Adventure Therapy is an evidence-based practice that teaches individuals how to connect with their thoughts, feelings, and surroundings while engaging in an action orientated activity. This therapeutic experience allows participants to take calculated risks and explore interpersonal feelings while being in a safe, supportive environment under the guidance of mental health professionals. This type of Exposure Therapy draws raw emotion which allows a clinician to teach clients to troubleshoot options and cope with feelings in real-time. Monarch engages participants in fun activities such as hiking, rock climbing, yoga, cooperative games and challenge courses. These experiences can activate the human spirit, unite a group, help translate recovery principles and teach life skills. Guide staff at Monarch have been trained through PCGI- Professional Climbing Guide Institute, they have Wilderness First-Aid Certifications though NOLS- National Outdoor Leadership Schooland have had years and years of outdoor experiences.
